Extra Nailsea Basketball Training Sessions - FREE!

As part of your monthly Nailsea Basketball payment, you now also get an extra training session! ooooohhhh, at no extra cost!

Sessions will take place 5pm til 6pm, Sundays at Scotch Horn in Nailsea (full court). These extra sessions will take place every week starting this Sunday 13th Dec, carrying on for 10 weeks. Please note that there isn’t one though on the 27th Dec.

All fixtures now updated on the calendar. Any non monthly payers - this will be £3 a session. Big thanks to Dan Roach for getting us sponsorship to help pay for this.

The complete fixtures for the upcoming 2009/2010 season are now online in the Fixtures section of the website. 1st team games shown in orange, and 2nd team games in green.

Summer Youth Basketball!!

Summer League Starting Soon!

The 09 summer league starts in Mid May and is open to all members of Nailsea Basketball. As with last year, the league will take place weekly at Filton WISE and will be split into two weekday evenings.

The first team will play on Tuesday nights where the higher division teams tend to play, and the second team will play on Thursday where they face similar standard competition. The league starts on May 12th (14th for 2nd team) and will run for approx 12 weeks.

The summer league costs £40 per player, and as there will be 15 games which works out as a little over £2.66 per game.

06/02/2009 – IMPORTANT: Second Team Training Cancelled!

Nailsea School appears to be completely closed due to the snow, so tonight’s training session is cancelled unless you hear otherwise.

Apologies to everyone, I know there was a lot of anticipation for this one!

2nd Team Secure 2 Wins in a Row

Nailsea 2 are getting into the swing of their first season in the league, being new into Div 3 this year. They had already won their first game of the season away in Stroud (50 - 46) and have recently secured another 2 victories in a row.

The first win was at home last Friday (24th Oct) against Filton’s 3rd team, with a massive 64 - 47 defeat of the travelling team. Tom Sparey picked up MVP honours, along with 19 points for the home side:

This week, Nailsea 2 travelled away to face Braves 3 on Monday 27th October. Despite periods with a convincing lead, Nailsea only managed to come out with a 5 point margin at the end of the game. Kieran Morgan was awarded MVP and picked up 15 points. The final score was 60 - 55, and this marked the 2nd team’s 3rd win of the season. They currently stand 3 - 3 for the season.

1st Team Win at Home Against Cavaliers!

Not to be out-done by the 2nd team’s recent first win of the season, Nailsea 1 played at home this week against the Cavaliers, winning in overtime 81 - 80. Game MVP went to Dan Roach with 26 points. Stats are below:

2nd Team Score First Win of the Season

Nailsea 2 travelled to Stroud on Tuesday 7th October to score their first win of the 2008/09 season. The game ended with a very close score of 50 - 46, with Kieran Morgan picking up MVP honours with 17 points.

Nailsea 1st Play Worle in Pre-season Friendly (Wed 17th Sept)

Nailsea 1st will play their first pre-season friendly against Division 1 rivals, Worle. The game will take place at Scotch Horn Leisure Centre at 8.15pm tip on Wednesday 17th September. Fans and support welcome as always, Jon will; be selecting the team based on 1st team sign-ups and proposed team for the forthcoming regular season

1st and 2nd Team Separate Training Sessions Next Week

The Nailsea Basketball traning sessions officially get under way next week, with the 1st team primarily playing on Wednesday night at Scotch Horn (8 - 1opm) and the second team primarily playing at Nailsea School on Friday night (8-10pm). While the teams will be split mainly in this way, people are encouraged to come along to a second session should they want to play any more. Paul Roy will be arranging extra payments for those attending extra sessions.
