Nailsea Win in First Round of the Cup, 45 - 43 vs Empees
November 21, 2007 on 6:50 pm | In GeneralNailsea visited Division 2 rival team, Empees, away in Bradley Stoke on Sunday 18th November. The game itself ended abruptly in the fourth quarter, with approximately 5 minutes left to play. After an unfortunate collision on a fast break, Andy Wilcox from the Empees side took a hard fall into the end wall. The game was halted, and Empees in the end forfeited due to Andy’s nasty injury. At the time, Nailsea had already clawed back from a slow start and large point deficit in the third quarter. The final score was 45 - 43 to Nailsea at the time the game was stopped, with point scoring lead by Jon Moore (10), Paul Roy (9) and Simon Baker (8). Jake Watkins picked up MVP honours, and the game was characterised by tough man to man defense throughout.
The Nailsea team would like to wish Andy all the best and a speedy recovery from the accident. Hope to see you playing again when we next meet!
